Collective Worship at St David’s

Collective worship plays an important role in the daily life of St David’s and reflects our Christian vision and values. Our collective worship follows Church of England guidance and is inclusive, invitational and inspiring, supporting the spiritual development of every child.

Each half term, collective worship focuses on one of our school’s Christian values. This allows children time to explore and understand each value in depth and consider what it means for their own lives, both in school and beyond.

Inclusive

Our worship is designed to include everyone within our school community. All pupils, including those of different faiths or of no faith, are welcomed and encouraged to reflect in a way that feels right for them. Collective worship supports children wherever they are on their own spiritual journey, offering opportunities for quiet reflection as well as shared moments.

Invitational

Children are invited to take part in collective worship through prayer, silence or personal reflection. They are always given the choice to join in in a way they feel comfortable with, helping them to develop curiosity, respect and understanding.

Inspirational

Through stories, music, drama and discussion, collective worship explores meaningful themes and ideas that inspire children to reflect on their actions and choices. Worship encourages children to think about how they can live out our Christian values and make positive changes in their own lives and in the wider world.

Reflection tables and quiet spaces around the school further support children in responding to worship themes beyond the session itself, helping learning and reflection to continue throughout the day.

 Our Weekly collective worship timetable

Collective worship occurs at 14:55 each day.

Monday: Whole school collective worship led by Miss Reynolds. Here we explore one of our values.

Tuesday: Whole school collective worship at St Michael's Church led by Rev Mike, Rev Sarah or Rev Suki. We go to St Michael's alternate weeks. For the other week, we have whole school singing practice.

Wednesday: Class collective worship lead by the class teacher. This too focuses on the value of the half term.

Thursday: ICE or singing practice.

Friday: Celebration assembly. Celebrating achievements both in and out of school. A pupil from each class is awarded star learner. Star learners are chosen for how they have modelled the half termly value.
