Spiritual Development at St David’s
Our Rings of Spirituality
At St David’s, we understand spirituality as an important part of every child’s development. We nurture spirituality through our Rings of Spirituality, which help children explore who they are, how they relate to others, and how they understand the wider world and God.
Self
At the heart of our model is Self. We encourage children to develop a strong sense of who they are, recognising their feelings, thoughts and personal values. Children are given time and space to reflect, to ask questions, and to understand what makes them unique. This helps them grow in confidence, self‑awareness and emotional wellbeing.
Others
The next ring focuses on Others. Children are supported to build positive relationships, showing kindness, empathy and respect within our school community and beyond. Through our Christian values, children learn to listen, to understand different viewpoints and to care for one another, developing a strong sense of belonging and responsibility.
Beyond (The World)
The outer ring encourages pupils to look Beyond themselves and their immediate community. Children are invited to explore the wider world, to wonder, to ask big questions and to think about their place in God’s creation. Through collective worship, reflection, RE and everyday experiences, children consider faith, awe and wonder, and how they can contribute positively to the world around them.
Putting Spirituality into Practice
Spiritual development at St David’s is supported through:
- Collective worship
- Reflection spaces and tables
- Our Christian values
- Time for stillness, prayer and personal reflection
Together, the Rings of Spirituality help our children grow into thoughtful, compassionate individuals who understand themselves, care for others and engage meaningfully with the world around them.
