At, St David's C of E Primary School, we recognise the importance science plays in building children’s identity and finding their place in the world. Our science curriculum builds children’s scientific skills including communication, observing and data handling which in turn, supports them in the wider curriculum.

We build children’s science capital through well sequenced, language rich lessons taught in classrooms, outside in our school grounds and within our local community. Enrichment opportunities are planned to develop children’s understanding of science in a real life context.
Our science week exposes and supports children to careers within the STEM community by focussing on ‘Careers within Science’ during science weeks.
SEND children gain a deep environmental awareness through weekly outdoor learning provisions by fostering a love for nature. Weekly outdoor learning days in reception underpins our science curriculum, enabling children to understand the world around them.
Our learning powers are fundamental in supporting children to become scientists.
