Science at St David's

We think that science is a fascinating subject with many amazing things to learn and discover. The world around us is an incredible place - for example, did you know that sound travels 4 times faster in water than it does through air?

We teach the children about:

  • Living things and their habitats - including plants and animals (and humans of course!)
  • Evolution and Inheritance
  • Everyday materials including rocks and soils, different states of matter and changes to materials
  • Light and Sound
  • Forces and Magnets
  • Electricity
  • Earth and Space

Throughout all these areas of study children are taught how to work and think scientifically through discussion and the undertaking of experiments and investigations. They plan different types of scientific enquiries to answer questions, make predictions, take measurements, record data, represent it in different charts and graphs, report on their findings and draw conclusions.
